Prison sentence doubled for campaigner

A pro-cannabis campaigner who set up a cannabis club in Auckland, is now likely to spend more than an extra year in prison.

Earlier this year, Dakta Green was sentenced to prison for eight months for selling cannabis and letting people smoke it at a club in west Auckland, the Daktory, last year.

The Crown has now won an appeal against that sentence.

The Court of Appeal has quashed the original prison term and instead sentenced Green to 23 months.

It ruled the original starting point for the sentence was too low.
