Inspection of Navy fleet

3:07 pm on 3 October 2011

The Governor-General, Lieutenant-General Sir Jerry Mateparae, will inspect the New Zealand Navy fleet in Wellington harbour on Monday while aboard HMNZS Resolution.

The inspection is part of the service's 70th anniversary celebrations. This is the first time it has been done in 20 years.

Rear Admiral Tony Parr and Defence Minister Wayne Mapp will also be aboard Resolution.

The Navy says HMNZS Resolution will sail alongside the Endeavour, Te Kaha, Wellington, Rotoiti and Taupo.

Resolution will then turn and sail past the Hawea, Pukaki, Otago, Te Mana and Canterbury.

The Navy says all crew will be on the upper decks of their respective ships and will cheer Sir Jerry as the Resolution sails past.
