The Waikato Regional Council is warning of possible severe thunderstorms in parts of the region until Monday evening.
Areas likely to be affected include the Coromandel Peninsula, western Waikato and the Waitomo District.
MetService is warning there is a risk of squally wind gusts of 110km/h or more and the chance of localised tornadoes, especially in eastern coast areas.
