Vector says Advanced Metering Services will roll out smart meters for up to 150,000 Contact Energy customers in Auckland, Wellington, Waikato and parts of the central North Island.
Chief executive Simon Mackenzie says it's another big step forward in the growth of its smart-metering business.
Installation of the meters begins next year. They will bring Vector's number of contracted installations to about 700,000.
