The Kapiti Coast police commander will lead the last New Zealand police deployment to East Timor.
Inspector John Spence, who helped command the first police deployment to the country in 2006, says he is leaving Kapiti Mana in good heart, with a drop of 4.8% in crime in the area in the last fiscal year.
Inspector Spence will work in the Wellington police district on his return from East Timor in mid-2012.
