A New Zealander who initially survived a helicopter crash in New York has died in hospital from her injuries.
Helen Tamaki was one of five people on board the chopper that plunged into the East River shortly after takeoff on 4 October.
Ms Tamaki was on a sight-seeing tour with her partner Sonia Marra Nicholson and Ms Nicholson's family.
Ms Nicholson was killed in the accident and her mother seriously injured.
Ms Tamaki's Wellington-based family flew to New York to be with her and are now being helped by New Zealand consular officials.
The ABC reports the couple were Australian residents.
