Second case of measles confirmed in capital

A second case of measles has been confirmed in the Wellington region.

Medical officer of Health Annette Nesdale says there is no known link between this case and that of a University of Victoria student in September.

Dr Nesdale says while the man was infectious he went to Les Mills in Taranaki St and three Kaffee Eis outlets at Frank Kitts Park, Courtney Place and Cable Car Lane.

She says the man may have unknowingly passed the infection on to others.

Public health officials are working closely with the companies to contact and trace staff, however it is not possible to trace customers and gym members.

Anyone who was at these venues should check their immune status and if in doubt, contact their doctor.
