Man charged over Otara sex attacks

A man has been charged with the sexual violation, indecent assault and abduction of three women on separate occasions in South Auckland.

The women all say they were approached and followed by a man in a vehicle in the Hills Road area of Otara, before he got out, chased and then sexually assaulted them.

A 25-year-old man appeared in Manukau District Court on Thursday over the incidents on 3 and 7 July and 22 September.

He was remanded in custody to reappear on 9 November.

Police say they have reason to believe there may be other victims possibly in the Mangere area and want to hear from anyone else who has been approached or witnesses to the attacks.

They say the accused is not a convicted sexual offender who was the subject of community meetings and was to be relocated from Otara.
