A patient with a probable case of meningococcal disease is being treated in Wellington Hospital.
Health authorities say it is the first case since last month, when test results confirmed a teenager had died from the meningococcal C strain.
A medical officer of health, Annette Nesdale, says there have been 11 confirmed cases of the disease in the Wellington region this year, consistent with recent annual figures of 13 to 18 cases.
