La Nina to return

3:46 pm on 28 October 2011

The La Nina weather pattern that brought about the Queensland floods last December and January will return again this summer.

The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research has issued its climate outlook for November to January.

Dr James Renwick says temperatures throughout the country will be average, in the late teens to the mid-20s.

He says La Nina will bring some rain, but is unlikely to cause floods.

The floods in central and southeast Queensland affected 78% of the state.
