A fatal accident has closed State Highway 2 between Tauranga and Rotorua.
Police say a motorcycle and a car collided just south of Te Puke at 11am on Sunday.
The motorcyclist was killed and a woman is trapped inside the car.
Inspector Karl Wright St Clair says it's likely the road will be closed for some time.
Police are asking traffic heading from Tauranga to Rotorua to use the Tauranga Direct Road.
Those already heading from Rotorua to Tauranga can expect a significant delay.
