A person who was trapped in a car following a collision with a petrol tanker in Christchurch has died.
The crash happened at the intersection of Brougham and Selwyn streets in Spreydon at about 5am on Tuesday.
Emergency services worked for half an hour to free the trapped person, but the person subsequently died.
Diversions are still in place between Selwyn and Strickland streets until further notice.
