A 25-year-old man who died in Whanganui on Tuesday night has been named as Yusef Zurich.

Mr Zurich was driven to Whanganui Hospital following a disturbance at a house in the suburb of Gonville, where about 15 people had been socialising.

He died soon after arriving at the hospital.

Police say post-mortem results show Mr Zurich died of a severe wound to his arm.

The police are continuing to interview neighbours and those who were at the house at the time, while a scene examination will continue for one or two more days.

They are also interested in the movements of a red Ford Telstar car, believed to be the vehicle that Mr Zurich was taken to the hospital in.
