An Auckland father has admitted taking part in what the authorities have called systematic and horrific abuse against his nine-year-old daughter.
The girl's mother has already pleaded guilty to 25 assault, cruelty and neglect charges, including using a hammer against her.
Some of the charges relate to the couple's seven-year-old son.
The severity of the case sparked a national inquiry into how the abuse went undetected for so long.
The man pleaded guilty on Friday to a representative charge of neglect and cruelty to a child and to another representative charge of assault on a child.
The couple will be sentenced at the Auckland District Court on 25 November.
