TV crew accused of pilot prank to face trial

Television crew members accused of a prank that involved impersonating a pilot have denied Civil Aviation Act charges in court.

The six men, including television presenter Ben Boyce, were filming for a TV3 programme at the time.

The men are accused of staging a stunt at Auckland Airport that involved one of them dressing as an Air New Zealand pilot.

A lawyer for the men entered not guilty pleas on Tuesday to charges of providing false information under the Civil Aviation Act.

The judge indicated a two-day trial will follow.

The option of diversion had been explored in previous hearings but there was no mention of that on Tuesday.

The judge agreed to amend the bail conditions that prevented the men from going to Auckland Airport.

They can now visit the airport, but only for travel purposes.
