Jail term in fraud case

A medical company director has received a jail term for fraud totalling millions of dollars.

The Serious Fraud Office brought the prosecution against Alan John McMillan, who helped run Koru Medical Radiology, saying that between 2007 and 2010 he created documents that overstated the strength of the company's financial position.

He then obtained loans totalling $6.5 million and overdrafts of $1.8 million.

A judge at the North Shore District Court sentenced McMillan to two years and ten months in prison on 21 charges of forgery and dishonestly using a document.

McMillan's company was involved in providing x-ray equipment.
