Police are looking for a man who is alleged to have waved a gun at a group of primary school children in the Wellington suburb of Wainuiomata.
They say the firearm may have been a BB gun.
More than a dozen police officers are looking for the man.
Police say they are unable to confirm which school the incident happened at.
