The family of a school girl found dead in a burnt out house has asked for privacy during her funeral in Christchurch on Sunday.

The body of Jade Bayliss, 13, was found in the house in the suburb of Somerfield on 10 November.

Jeremy McLaughlin, 34, has been charged with her murder as well as the arson and burglary of her home.

Another man, 40, who has name suppression, is charged with helping him to avoid arrest.

The funeral will be held at a chapel in the suburb of Burnside on Sunday afternoon.

Her parents have issued a statement saying they are grateful for the support they have received from the community and thanking the police investigating their daughter's death, which has left them devastated.
