A man is in custody following the ramming of a police car after a police pursuit in Tauranga.
Police say they tried to stop a vehicle on Cameron Road at about 12.20am on Monday.
Officers followed the vehicle from Tauranga to Mount Maunganui but decided to abandon the pursuit because of the driver's speed.
A police car was later rammed three times when the car was spotted again. The vehicle was finally stopped with road spikes.
A man, 27, is to appear in the Tauranga District Court charged with driving while disqualified, failing to stop, reckless driving and assault with a weapon.
