RNZ FM frequencies back on in South Island

12:35 pm on 27 November 2011

Radio New Zealand's FM frequencies in the South Island are back up and running after a transmission failure on Saturday afternoon.

The telecommunications infrastructure company Kordia says a link failure between the bottom of the North Island and top of the South Island was to blame.

It has changed to a temporary link while it assesses the problem.

Kordia says the failure was registered at 2.36pm and lasted for about 15 minutes.
