Firefighters unharmed by burning silo

6:04 am on 28 November 2011

Several firefighters escaped serious injury when a burning silo collapsed on them at a wood mill blaze in Kaitaia on Sunday night.

About 40 were called to the Juken New Zealand mill where a fire had spread to the roof and a wall of the factory at about 10.40pm.

The silo then caught fire and collapsed onto a group of firefighters.

An ambulance was called, but no one was taken to hospital.
