The Australian government says the number of Australians moving to New Zealand has nearly doubled in the past decade.
Emigration 2008-2009, issued by the Department of Immigration & Citizenship, shows more than 14,000 Australians moved to New Zealand during the past financial year.
The figure is nearly 200 up on the previous year and a considerable increase on the number who migrated 10 years ago - almost 7500.
The department says the increase is due to an exodus of young and skilled migrants looking for work.
More than 81,000 Australians emigrated in 2008 - 2009.
