The paper says Melissa Anderson chased the suspected ringleader and slapped her a couple of times before police intervened. Ms Anderson, who has been charged with assault, says 'motherly instinct' took over.

The paper also reports a Pukekohe High School student was held down and violated with a vehicle part by a group of students, after it was revealed he planned to move to a private boarding school.

Waikato Times

The Waikato Times reports on the inquest into the death of Auckland teenager Cem Erbay, who was found dead in January at the Coromandel beach township of Matarangi.

His mother Sharon Harvey, broke down at the inquest on Monday after confronting one of her son's friends who admitted selling Cem an ecstasy tablet - despite her warnings not to do so.

The Press

The paper says a succession of witnesses described many cracks that appeared, some on the central load-bearing wall. But five engineering assessments cleared the building, describing the cracks as superficial.

The paper also carries the story of Sandra and Garth Dale of Dallington, who were astounded to learn EQC assessors missed damage to their home, that may now lead to its demolition.

ODT
