The mother of a baby killed last year has admitted she lied to police.
Victoria Taylor is giving evidence in the High Court at Auckland, in the trial of her former boyfriend James Hemana for the murder of Cezar Taylor.
Mr Hemana denies murdering the six-month-old but has admitted manslaughter and failing to provide the necessaries of life.
The baby died in Starship Hospital after suffering bleeding in the brain, seizures and bruises that were inflicted over several weeks.
The court has been watching a recording of a police interview with Ms Taylor, who was 20 at the time, the day after her son was admitted to Starship Hospital in July last year.
When the recording finished, the crown prosecutor asked Ms Taylor, who is a crown witness, whether what she told the detective was correct.
Ms Taylor replied that half of it was true.
When asked what was not true, she said she could not remember.
The court adjourned briefly, with Mr Hemana's lawyer saying the response was not good enough.
The crown prosecutor is continuing to question Ms Taylor.
