A Tauranga company will be the first to take paying members of the public for adventure flights in a military plane.
Double X Flight is being presented with an operating certificate for its adventure aviation service on Friday.
The operation has been made possible by new aviation rules.
The company's chief executive, Peter Meadows, says for the first time it will be legal to take fare-paying passengers for adventure flights in a warbird.
He says the flights will give people the chance to experience these historic aircraft safely.
Mr Meadows says the company will operate a Yak 52, which is a Russian fighter trainer, with passengers treated to a loop at 320 kilometres an hour.
