The Court of Appeal has granted a retrial for two men found guilty of being an accessory to murder in a hit and run incident in South Auckland.
Joanne Wang had her handbag snatched in a supermarket carpark in 2008 and was then run over while trying to retrieve her bag.
Earlier this year the Court of Appeal quashed the conviction of Christopher Shadrock, who was imprisoned for murdering Mrs Wang, and ordered a retrial.
The reasons for that decision are suppressed.
The court has now also quashed the convictions of Vila Lemanu and Terence Tere, who were both jailed for being an accessory in Mrs Wang's murder.
The court says proof that Shadrock committed murder was a necessary element of Lemanu and Tere's conviction.
The Crown says it was proposed that Tere be retried with Shadrock in June next year, and it's likely this will also be proposed for Lemanu.
