Police in Queenstown have recovered weapons and clothing after a kidnap attempt on a Cromwell man last week.

Jason Wynyard had a machete and a meat cleaver held to his throat before being bundled into a car and later dumped on the side of a road near Arrowtown on 26 November.

Police believe eight people were involved in the attack, described by the victims as mainly male skinheads.

On Tuesday officers recovered items after searching three houses in Frankton and Arrowtown.

Four men also handed themselves in to police.

Two have been charged with kidnapping and aggravated wounding. They were released on bail to appear in the Queenstown District Court on Monday, while police are still speaking to the other two.

Two people arrested on Monday have been bailed.

Queenstown receptionist Rachel Faul is in custody on remand and faces charges of kidnap, aggravated assault and reckless driving.

Ms Faul will reappear in the Ashburton High Court on Thursday to relodge a bail application.
