Appeal Court orders retrial in hit-and-run case

10:15 pm on 6 December 2011

The Court of Appeal has ordered a retrial for five men convicted of being accessory to a murder.

The men were found guilty in July last year for burning a car used in an alleged hit-and-run killing in South Auckland.

The man found guilty of the murder, Christopher Shadrock, had his conviction quashed earlier this year, pending a retrial.

The lawyer for one of the five men, Lorraine Smith, says they have also had their convictions quashed and will face a retrial at the same time as Mr Shadrock, in June 2012.
