A former All Black facing assault and drug charges has been named as Stephen Bachop.
He agreed on Wednesday to the lifting of name suppression during an appearance in the Wellington District Court on charges of assaulting a female, resisting police and possession of cannabis.
The charges arose at an incident during celebrations following the Rugby World Cup final. He has pleaded not guilty.
In a statement from his lawyer, Mr Bachop said he no longer wishes to pursue name suppression and wants to prevent the potential for any negative impact on other former All Blacks.
