The Ministry of Health is on the lookout for disease-carrying mosquitoes which have been found on a visiting cargo ship.
The pupae and larvae of the Asian Tiger and Culex Mosquitoes have been detected on a ship from Vanuatu, which docked in Auckland and Tauranga this week.
The ministry says Asian Tiger mosquitoes can carry a range of diseases including yellow fever and Dengue fever.
Culex mosquitos can carry the West Nile virus.
It says people working at the ports should be on the lookout for mosquitoes and call its hotline if any are found.
