Two non-sworn police personnel arrested during a big drug bust have been named.
Name suppression was lifted in the Auckland District Court on Thursday for Timothy John Russell Sarah, 36, a police prosecutor, and Darren Ian Hoggets, aged 34.
Mr Sarah faces 20 charges, including attempting to pervert the course of justice by providing police information and directly accessing the police computer system.
Mr Sarah and Mr Hoggets were among 22 people arrested in raids throughout Auckland in November when hundreds of thousand of ecstasy pills were seized.
Police claim the ring was responsible for about 90% of New Zealand's supply of the drug.
