A three-year-old girl who went missing in Auckland on Sunday was found dead in an estuary later in the day.
Police say the girl, Tamar Ihaka, was reported missing at 1pm from a Helensville address.
Sergeant Greg Foster says she was found at 5pm in the Helensville estuary adjacent to her home.
He says she entered the water at high tide and the police located her at low tide.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
