Air NZ looking at ways to save money

6:29 pm on 13 December 2011

Air New Zealand says its longest international flights, to London, need to make more money and a range of ideas are being looked at as it aims to make itself more economic.

However, the airline is not commenting on reports that jobs could be lost as part of a corporate review.

The airline recently stated its international routes have been losing $1 million a week.

Union sources say the size of the airline's management has grown and jobs could be lost as part of wider cost-cutting.

Air New Zealand says it has told staff that its focus is to be an Australasian airline with some Pacific Rim destinations and will not make further comment while reviews are under way.
