The emergency operations centre that has been dealing with the disastrous floods and slips in Nelson and Tasman last week has closed.
Civil defence teams have inspected 655 affected properties in the wake of the rainstorm.
Of those, 105 have been issued yellow stickers, meaning restricted access, while 38 homes - most of the in Nelson - have red stickers, meaning they cannot be entered.
The Earthquake Commission believes 50 homes will have to be rebuilt.
Meanwhile, a recovery team has taken over the task of returning hundreds of properties, as well as rivers and roads, to the state they were in before the destructive storm - the region's worst disaster in 80 years.
The repair bill is expected to run into the tens of millions of dollars.
