Occupy protestors meet to discuss next steps

6:16 pm on 23 December 2011

Some Occupy Auckland protestors are abiding by a court order and packing up their tents in Aotea Square, meaning they should leave

On Wednesday, Auckland District Court ordered them to vacate the square within 24 hours, meaning they should leave the square by 2.30pm.

Protestors who had not left the square by the deadline have been summonsed to appear in court on 29 December to explain why they should not be jailed for contempt of court.

The protestors say they're meeting on Friday evening to decide whether not they're all going to leave and, if they do, whether or not they will set up camp in another of the city's parks.

The protestors have been in Aotea Square since October and have ignored repeated requests from Auckland Council to leave.
