Neighbours to the rescue

7:54 am on 25 December 2011

Emergency Services are praising the two people who lifted an Auckland man to safety after he fell down a bank in the suburb of Orakei.

The two were neighbours of the man.

They heard someone yelling just after 7pm on Saturday and found their neighbour about 15 metres down the cliff.

While waiting for rescuers, they managed to pull him up with a rope.

Police say the man slipped down the bank while walking through bush.

He was uninjured.
