Olympic T-shirts for first babies

12:58 pm on 30 December 2011

The British High Commissioner will be giving Olympic T-shirts to the first baby boy and girl born in Wellington in the New Year.

High Commissioner Vicki Treadell says as soon the parents of the newborns are ready, she will present them with a T-shirt and a bottle of champagne.

The shirts are being given out all over the world and New Zealand babies will be the first in the world to receive them.

Britain is to host the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics next year.
