Cap found after stabbing

12:32 pm on 6 January 2012

A baseball cap believed to be linked to the stabbing of a man in Napier on New Year's Day has been found.

Luke Brown, 24, and a friend were walking home along Kennedy Road in Marewa at about 2am on Sunday when they were attacked.

Mr Brown was stabbed in the abdomen, punched and kicked. Three of his ribs were broken and he had head and facial injuries.

Police say a blue and grey baseball cap which several witnesses of the incident say one of the attackers was wearing, has been found by a member of the public, close to the incident.

They say it is likely the cap is connected directly to the attack. It has been sent for forensic testing.
