Free meals urged at school

A child health expert says the Government should consider providing free meals at low-decile schools because of rising food prices.

Auckland University Professor of Pediatrics Innes Asher says the price of fruit, vegetables and dairy products increases the risk of children becoming malnourished.

Professor Asher says free school meals should be considered.

Fonterra says it could increase the price of wholesale milk price by up to eight cents a litre by the end of the month.
