A truck driver has appeared in Christchurch District Court charged with the murder and sexual violation of a woman whose body was found in a car last week.
Keith Donald Bonner, 53, is charged with the murder of Tracey Lee Morris, 46, a barmaid. He was arrested on Saturday.
Bail and name suppression were not sought during his brief appearance, before he was remanded in custody until 25 January.
The body of Ms Morris was found in a car on Grays Road near Christchurch airport on Friday morning, but police believe she was killed elsewhere.
Forensic examination of a house at Coniston Avenue, Avonside, continued on Monday.
