The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed a New Zealander was aboard the Costa Concordia in the disaster off the coast of Italy.
The ministry says the New Zealand citizen is safe and is being offered consular assistance in Rome.
The ship ran aground on Friday with some 4200 people on board.
