Four boats and a helicopter are searching for a man who went missing while swimming in the Whanganui River.
The man, 34, was with several canoeists in an area known as Mangapapapa at about 1pm on Saturday when he was swept away while crossing the river.
Police say the water is murky because the river has been in flood.
