Police have searched an area of sea near Paekakariki, north of Wellington, after a surfboard was seen floating in rough surf on Sunday.
They say the yellow and black board was spotted about 300 metres south of the Fisherman's Table restaurant at 4.40pm, but it was not clear whether there was a person with it or not.
A search did not find the board, and the police want to hear from anyone who may have information about it.
