A man charged in relation to a road rage incident in Wellington involving an American cyclist has appeared in court.
Jamie Pene, 39, appeared before a registrar in the Wellington District Court on Wednesday on an assault charge.
It was earlier reported that two cyclists from Oregon, Russell Roca and Laura Crawford, claimed a silver car passed close to them in the suburb of Newtown.
They said the driver pulled over and chased them and punched Mr Roca in the face after pushing him off his bike.
Mr Pene will be back in court on 1 February.
