A man has serious injuries after being pinned under a vehicle that rolled off a road in the Western Bay of Plenty.
Emergency services were called to the incident along Arawa Avenue in Maketu, just after 4am on Saturday.
The ambulance service says the sole occupant, a 20-year-old male, was thrown from the four wheel drive and trapped underneath the vehicle when it came off the road.
It says the fire service had to lift the vehicle to free the man. He was taken to Tauranga Hospital with serious injuries.
