About 10,000 people attended the fifth annual Pasifika Festival at the Wellington Waterfront on Saturday.
There was entertainment, food, arts and craft at the festival, which started the Wellington anniversary weekend celebrations.
The city council's community events manager, Rebecca Hardi, says good weather in the capital and a cruise ship docked in the harbour would have boosted the turnout.
