Children need more guidance around dogs - Kennel Club

8:42 am on 23 January 2012

The New Zealand Kennel Club says children need better guidance about how to act around dogs, following three attacks in the past week in Rotorua, Porirua and Ashburton.

The Kennel Club says children need to be trained how to behave around dogs which sometimes misinterpret their behaviour as threatening, especially if they are strangers.

It says children are putting themselves at risk if they look directly into a dog's eyes or tries to cuddle it.
