Police in Auckland say an 80 foot catamaran with two people on board hit rocks at Tutukaka near Whangarei on Tuesday night.
No one was injured in the incident, which happened at about 10.30pm.
The Coastguard says one person was taken off the vessel, but the other stayed aboard.
