The head of SPARC - the sports funding agency - is not publicly predicting how many medals New Zealand will win at the Beijing Olympics.
New Zealand athletes won five medals - three gold and two silver - at the Athens Games four years ago.
The Beijing Games start on 8 August.
All that SPARC chief executive SPARC chief executive Peter Miskimmin will say, is that, based on the lead up to these Games, there should be a greater haul.
He says 11 New Zealand athletes are currently ranked in the top three of their event - compared to less than half number before the Athens Games.
China's target for the Beijing Olympics is to surpass the 32 gold medals they won in Athens.
