A Taupo woman was confronted by three armed men after disturbing them breaking into the back of a shop.
Police say the 22-year old disturbed the men as she arrived to start work in the early hours of Friday morning.
They say the men confronted her with two pistols and a crowbar, forcing her to the ground and stealing her car keys before fleeing the scene.
Police say the woman was unhurt but shaken by the experience.
The car was later recovered.
